In April we got hitched.
In August we quit our high falutin jobs in Chicago.
In September we moved to Kansas. (To the house where I grew up. The one my great-great grandfather built. On the farm.)
In October we set out to see the world:
97 days.
12 countries.
A Kindle full of books.
Heads crammed with travel book facts.
Join us on our journey.

I love you!
I am really enjoying your blog and reading about your travels. Most enjoyed the Mr Farmer entries–hard to picture Derek as a country boy. What a bold change for both of you–jobs, residence, travel. Wish you the best. Bon Voyage. And I noticed you are missing France in your world tour. I’ve rented an apt in Paris for next summer and look forward to using my French again. Cousin Mark
This trip is how I know you met the right guy! Anyone who will quit a perfectly good job, move home to Kansas and travel the world with you and still likes you is a GREAT GUY!
Hi Lori! Shannon told me about your blog- it is great!! It is too funny because Matt and I were in New Zealand the same time as you. We missed you in TeAnau by a day! Too funny! I am excited for you and your husband!
Derek and Lori!!!!
I’ve never been speechless in my life. But you did it!!!! Lori, you should write a book!!
